수많은 어학원들 중에 자체적으로 체계적인 커리큐럼 및 교재를 구비하고 있는 어학원들은 드물다. 본 학원은 " 미국 테네사 주 ESL 교육 과정 "을 바탕으로, 한국 학생들만을 위한 특화된 교육 방식을 첨부하여 MITIS자체 커리큐럼을 마련하였으며,커리큐럼을 효과를 극대화 할 수 있는 수업 교재를 레벨 1 - 5 까지 세분화로 제작
하였습니다.
 
 METIS 만의 특별한 수업교재

현재 미국 초.중학생들이 사용하는 교과서와 Tennessee 주립대학 ESL과정 교재들을 연구하여 학생들이 보다 쉽게 이해하고, 학습할 수 있는 Metis만의 ESL PROGRAM 주 교재 및 부교재를 자체적으로 제작하였습니다. 학생의 수준에 따라 꼭 알고 넘어가야만 하는 부분들을 커리큐럼에 따라 정리 분류한 효과적이고 ESL프로그램에 충실한 교재들입니다.
 
 METIS Level Guidelines

METIS Level 과정은 총 5단계로 이루어 져 있습니다. 각 레벨별로 그 과정 안에서 학생이이해하고 습득해야하는 모든 내용들이 프로그램화 되어있습니다. 이 과정의 효과 및 성과는 현재 ESL 교육 과정 중 가장 큰 효과를 나타내고 있는 미국 Tennessee 주립대학 ESL PROGRAM 의 결과로 이미 검증되었습니다. 생활 속에서 일어날 수 있는 여러 가지 상황들을 가상 설정하여 상황에 맞는 영어구사를 함에 목적을 두며, 1:1 맨투맨 전담 교육을 통한 영어 생활화, 순간순간 망설임 없는 자연스러운 대화를 목적으로 합니다.
 
Welcome to Metis- Subic! Our faculty and staff and your fellow student are prepared to assist you throughout your educational journey in learning English as your Second Language. During your stay here in Metis – Subicyouwillconfrontopportunitiesandchallengesthatwillbeexcitingandoftenoverwhelming.
However, your interest in learning English, together with our interest in your success, should overcome any obstacles a result in a rewarding experience. During your stay here, you will acquire the skills, knowledge and compassion necessary for you to learn and speak English in normal way
Should I speak up? Speak out? Become involved? These are common questions that students ponder about.
There isn't a single curriculum, but a different one for every student. The focus will be upon learning basic principles that will not only enable you to understand, diagnose and analyze, but also apply an evidence-based approach to problem but also apply facts – based approach to problem solving and dealing with the volumes of new information you will encounter in the future.
What should be your total commitment? You should certainly make the best use of daytime hours and evenings, but at the same time reserve appropriate free time for your personal needs and recreation. This approach allows most students to develop a demanding yet attainable schedule to achieve a satisfactory balance between personal and academic activities. Those of us in curriculum affairs look forward to meeting you, helping to answer your questions and providing advice and counsel whenever you need some direction.
 
Metis- Subic Curriculum
 
Your curriculum will have a good deal of flexibility and free time. You will have lot of scheduled lectures, outdoor activities small group discussions. However, you will be given time for you to study, independent learning projects, and participation in a variety of activities.
Curriculum
 
The major areas that are covered in this curriculum include:

·Writing
·Listening
·Reading
·Speaking
·Special Programs
They are required to take up the Placement examination and interview before they take the class. This will help the teachers to know what level their students should be designated. In this way it is also very helpful for us to figure out what skills we should develop and focus. Levels are divided into five (categories)

·LB 1.0 (Low Beginner)
·UB 1.1 (Upper Beginner)
·LI 2.0 (Low- Intermediate)
·UI 2.1(Upper Intermediate)
·LA 3.0 (Advanced)
 
Metis- Subic prepared a one month plan for students for each major area. After they have accomplished the one month plan curriculum students must take the monthly Level up test. This would help us to assess the student's performance if he is qualified for the next level with more intensive approach.
 
 레벨 테스트
 
" ESL Programs in Tennessee, US " 를 바탕으로 한 레벨 테스트를 통해서 Listening Writing Reading Speaking(conversation) 각각의 레벨을 평가하여 수업 시간을 배분, 배정 합니다.
 
 
진급 레벨 테스트 : 해당 레벨의 수업을 모두 이수 하였을 경우, 진급 레벨 테스트를 받을 수 있습니다. 테스트의 결과가 " Listening Writing Reading Speaking(conversation)"모든영역에서 합격하지 못하면, 과락 영역을 1주일 간 다시 공부한 이후, 과락 영역에 대한 진급 레벨 테스트를 다시 받습니다.
 (이는 4개의 영역에 대한 고른 실력 향상을 목적으로 하기 때문입니다.)


LEVEL GUIDELINES

 
LB 1.0 (Low Beginner)-This courseis planned for low beginner students in ESL. It is designed to develop oral communication skills so that the student can converse in different situations at work and in the community. Attention will be given to listening strategies, vocabulary building strategies, reading for discussion and spoken accuracy, with insights into standard pronunciation of English.
UB 1.1 (Upper Beginner)-Speaker may have difficulty producing even the simplest utterances. Speaker may show long pauses and repetition of interlocutor's words. Vocabulary is just enough for basic needs and expressing basic situations.
LI 2.0 (Low- Intermediate)- Intermediate level classes help students improve listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar skills. Students study topics and activities appropriate to their needs and interests. Completion of Intermediate levels can lead to English Language in the Workplace programs.

UI 2.1 (Upper Intermediate)- This course is planned for high intermediate students in ESL. It is designed to develop oral communication skills so that the student can converse in different situations at work and in the community with a degree of ease and fluency. Attention will be given to listening strategies with a focus on correct pronunciation, vocabulary building strategies, reading for discussion and spoken accuracy, and practice in some of the standard forms of spoken discourse.

LA 3.0 (Advanced)- This course is planned for intermediate level II students in ESL. It is designed to develop oral communication skills so that the student can converse with ease in most day-to-day situations as well as conduct themselves effectively in an academic milieu. Can handle most uncomplicated communicative tasks and social situations. Attention will be given to correct pronunciation, appropriate register, and accurate structures. Students are also expected to make their own formal presentations. In this level students are more aware of the situations around him and could actually react immediately through speaking and other skills needed. They are more conscious about the proper way of communicating in English.
