수업과코스 > IELTS

 

This course is designed to help students improve IELTS score and progress towards their goal of working in an English speaking country or studying at an English speaking university. The class aims to build student skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Each student will have 2 one on one classes; IELTS Grammar and IELTS Academic Vocabulary and 2 group classes; reading and writing, listening and speaking. The class runs for 2 months from Monday to Friday with 100 minutes daily. Each group class is limited to 4 students only. Students are grouped according to their levels. All 301 students shall be grouped together, likewise happens to 401, 501 and 601 levels.

This course aims to develop expressive and receptive language skills, language accuracy, and academic vocabulary. It also enables students to learn the structure to help them answer the test as well as to develop good study habits for IELTS.

The students shall take a placement test which will cover the 4 skills in IELTS (Reading and Writing, Speaking and Listening). The result of the Placement Test shall be the basis whether or not the students can proceed to the course.

SKILL ITEMS/TASKS TIME LISTENING 40 items 30 mins. READING 40 items 60 mins. WRITING 2 tasks 60 mins. SPEAKING 3 tasks 15 mins.

The students shall be graded according to their general ESL ability. They must achieve 301 level upon taking the placement test. This level is defined as having partial command of the language, can cope up with the meaning in most situations, but likely to make mistakes. When the score is successfully achieved, the students may start the IELTS course. (IF THE STUDENT FAILS TO GET THE SCORE, THEY WILL BE ADVISED TO TAKE GENERAL ESL CLASS FOR A MONTH AND RETAKE THE TEST UNTIL THE SCORE REQUIRED IS SUCCESFULLY ACHIEVED.)

The course shall culminate in two months after finishing the books assigned in every class. Each class is assigned two books to finish apart from the vocabulary and grammar class. The first book which will take for a month orients and prepares the students to the different tasks in taking the test. It is simpler and more specific. Additionally, it enables the students to practice using some exercises provided in the book. The second book gives intensive practice to maximize what the students have learned. It gives more challenging tasks to the students for the level of difficulty is increased.

• Classroom Test

A test given every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 8:30 to 11:30. This is to assess the progress of each student after a week of intensive class with the teacher.

• Departmental Test

A simulation test given every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 8:30 to 11:30. This test shall be the basis of the students’ rating.
The course syllabus is designed to accommodate the needs of every aspiring IELTS test takers. Every syllabus starts with a week of preparation activities to ensure the readiness of the students. The students will be provided with several tasks which will aid them to catch on with what IELTS is. With this, the rest of the other activities will come in handy. The second week will be familiarizing the test structure, how to answer them and the form of assessment. This will help out the students lessen the tension during the actual test. The third week is guided practice. As the name suggests, it is answering and explaining every item and section of the test. This will be a thorough discussion, especially on why some mistakes occur. The last week of the month will be a comprehensive simulation of the IELTS test, along with is a consultation to every student. Tests shall be given every Saturday to scrutinize their progress.
